Making Diwali sweets, 19th October 2016...

This week the children are learning all about Diwali.  They have been rewriting the story of Rama and Sita, writing instrauctions and making scrumptious Diwali sweets.

Restart a Heart Day 18th October 2016

All children had an excellent day today: as part of National Restart a Heart day (have a look on Twitter), a trainer from Lives came to show the children how to administer CPR.  She told me how impressed she was with the behaviour of all of the children and left tonight saying she had thoroughly enjoyed the day.  Hopefully the children enjoyed it as much as she did! Here are just a few of the pictures we took during the day.

Parent Teacher Guide

The PDF files below show the words your child needs to be able to spell by the end of the school year.  Please start at list 1 and work through them at your child's own pace.  Some of the words are known as common exception words, which means that they cannot be spelled out phonetically (using sounds).  Others can be split up into sounds.  If you have any questions, please write in your child's Blue Book or phone us at school.  Thank you.

We teach Phonics across the Early Years Foundation Stage and Class 1 in small ability groups.  We follow the Letters and Sounds programme. Please click on the link below for further information.   All children in Year 1 take a Phonics screening test in June.
