Welcome to Luddington & Garthorpe Primary

Arrangements for return to school in September

Entry and exit to school

As all children are back in September, we will be staggering start and finish times.  We've decided to organise by surname as we have lots of siblings in school.

If your child's surname is between A-E, please bring them at 8.40 a.m.  Their day will finish at 3.10 p.m.

If your child's surname is between F-J, please bring them at 8.50 a.m.  Their day will finish at 3.20 p.m.

If your child's surname is between K=P, please bring them at 9.00 a.m.  Their day will finish at 3.30 p.m.

If your child's surname is bewteen Q-Z, please bring them at 9.10 a.m.  Their day will end at 3.40 p.m.

We've made sure that every child gets exactly the same amount of teaching time.  For the first half hour and last hour of every day, we will be focusing on key skills such as reading, spelling and Maths.

It's really important that you bring and collect your child at the right time please to adhere to social distancing.  If your child is in KS2, please leave them at the front gate.  Parents of children in EYFS can bring them round to the EYFS door and parents of children in Mrs Parrott's class can bring them round to the external classroom door (the first door round the side of the building).  Please make sure that there is no one else on the path when you come round.  If your KS1 child is happy to come in on their own, that's absolutely fine.  Children will be brought out by a member of staff at the end of the school day.  Please make sure you're not congregating in groups outside the school. Thank you.

If your child is on the bus, they will come into school as they usually do and remain in class until the bus arrives at the end of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions:

- Will my child need a pencil case?   Please don't send in any stationery for now - we will be providing your child with what they need.

- Do lunch boxes need to be disposable?  No - you can send your child with their usual pack up, which will be stored in a cool place in their classroom.

- Will they be doing PE?  Yes, but outside wherever possible and we'll not be doing any contact sports in line with the latest guidance for now.

- Will they get a reading book?  Yes - if you'd prefer your child to continue to use Oxford Owl for now, that's fine but we do expect children to read at least three times a week.  Any books which are returned to school will be put in a box for 48 hours before being used again.

- Does my child need to wear uniform?  Yes please - we're now back to normal school uniform.  If you need any spare, a lot of clothes were donated and washed at the end of last term so please contact the school office.

- What will happen if someone becomes ill?  Please read the guidance on the COVID-19 page which tells you what the latest government guidance is.

- Will all children be able to mix?  At the moment, children will be taught in their own classes and will be in either an EYFS/KS1 bubble or a KS2 bubble at breaks and lunch times.  Assemblies will be held in the bubbles.  The whole school won't come together until the guidance has changed.

- Will you be providing before and after school care?  At the moment, we'll be offering a breakfast club from 8 a.m. each day.  There isn't enough demand for after school clubs but please let Mrs McGuigan at the office know if this would be helpful.

Where do I drop my child off/pick my child up? Wherever possible, we would like children to come into school on their own.  EYFS and KS1 children will come through the EYFS entrance, Mr Cullen's children through his classroom exterior door and Mrs McDermott's children through the KS2 cloakroom.  If your child is a little unsettled on the first few days, you can bring them to the entrance but parents are not currently permitted in school.  Please contact your child's teacher if you have any further questions.

Please email mrsbassindale@luddington-school.org.uk if you have any further questions.  Thank you
